When you are planning your wedding or any other event, you never know where it will lead you. We found that it was important to keep an open mind. Caroline and Sean had met with Tami at Binley Florist and they thought that they had their centerpieces all figured out. Just a few weeks prior to their wedding, we thought that we needed a little something on some of the reception tables to compliment the centerpieces. Thus the oval shaped mirror with the silhouette of Lake George and Love is on Lake George etched on it was born! The mirror is purchased and hand cut at Jim’s Glass Service. Then our friends at Ketchum Mfg Co Inc. do the laser etching on them. If we are framing the mirror, Tim O’Brien creates a frame to suit your taste. Each frame is unique. These custom mirrors are a great Bridal Shower, Wedding or House Warming gift. They are a timeless wedding gift.
People enjoy decorating their home with artwork that makes them feel happy!
Meet our friends at Ketchum Mfg Co Inc.. These are the creative folks who laser etch our custom framed Love is on Lake George and ADK mirrors. You will hear more about them in our next post.
In our blog post of April 25, 2016, we talked about Bridal Party Gifts. Today we are going to address Wedding Favors. If it fits into your wedding budget, it is a lovely gesture to give your guests a small gift. We encourage you to give them something to remind them first of all of you and secondly, of the Lake George or Adirondack region. Our stainless steel key ring that is made at Ketchum Mfg. Co. located in Lake Luzerne is a very functional gift. You may have your names and wedding date on one side of your key ring with the silhouette of Lake George on the other side. They come with a personalized tag that allows you to have a printed thank you note attached.
Our metal ornaments/wine bottle necklaces are a fun piece. An ornament is a popular gift that people enjoy. It will always remind your guests of you.
Whatever you choose…have fun giving your favor.
You may want to look at lakegeorge.com/weddings for other local favor vendors.

We love working with Brides and Grooms and their families to make their wedding day as special as they are. Our custom key rings are a very unique wedding favor. They are made here in our locale at Ketchum Manufacturing in Lake Luzerne.
Our LG and ADK Ornaments are fun and functional favors too.
If your wedding ceremony or reception is on or near the shores of Lake George, you may want to consider incorporating a boat ride aboard Love is on Lake George Cruises into your wedding weekend. Arriving by boat to your ceremony or reception is really fun. Our 26’ Lyman has plenty of space to accommodate you and eight other people. You may want to consider taking advantage of an on the water photo shoot. Your photographer and/or videographer will appreciate the opportunity too. The Lyman is very easy to walk around which offers you great photo options.
If you are looking to surprise your Bridal party with an amazing gift you may want to consider taking them out for a post wedding/pre-reception cruise. It is a very fun and a memorable treat and truly your gift to them. Here at Love is on Lake George Cruises, we offer you a minimum of an hour cruise. This allows you to take a 20 minute cruise with you and your photographer; a 20 minute cruise with your bridesmaids; and a 20 minute cruise with your groomsmen. It may not sound like much time, but it works well. Everyone close to you gets to relax privately with you while experiencing the beauty of Lake George lakeside.
You may want to leave your reception via our boat. We will transport you to your after party, wedding night destination or just give you some time to yourselves.
If your budget allows, offering boat cruises to your guests the day before or the morning of your wedding is a fun activity.
Our 26’ Lyman offers you a great opportunity to do all of the above!
Whomever you choose to take aboard Love is on Lake George Cruises will always remember your wedding and their time spent “on the water” with you!
Caroline and Sean enjoy college sports in particular so Fat Heads were a fun surprise for them.
Navigating around a new region can be challenging. You might want to consider offering transportation for your guest from their hotels to your wedding site, to your reception and back to their hotels. This makes it very comfortable for your wedding guests to be able to relax and enjoy celebrating your Wedding Day with you.
In the Lake George area you have a variety of fun transportation options. Caroline and Sean arranged for their Bridal Party to arrive at their Rehearsal Dinner aboard the Morgan at The Sagamore Hotel a school bus that could hold 40 to 44 people. Everyone loved it! It was particularly fun as most of their wedding party had been classmates of theirs at some point in their lives. They used Upstate Transit of Saratoga, LLC. They provided excellent service!
For their wedding day, they hired the Town of Lake George Trolley. The Trolley picked up Caroline and her bridesmaids, her flower girl and her Dad and I, at the Inn at Erlowest. He drove us to their wedding at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Glens Falls. After their Church ceremony, their entire bridal party and their significant others, rode in the trolley to their reception. The Lake George Trolley capacity is 30 people comfortably. You are allowed to bring your own food and beverages aboard.
Since Caroline and Sean had three hours in between their marriage ceremony and wedding reception, they asked the trolley to make a couple of fun stops. Caroline arranged for the route in advance. Once the trolley delivered the Bride and Groom to their reception site, he then went to pick up their guests at various hotels in Lake George Village including the Wingate, America’s Best Value Inn, Fort William Henry Hotel, and the Hampton Inn . At the end of the evening, the trolley returned our guests to their respective hotels. You can decorate the interior of the trolley. It is a very reasonable and fun option to satisfy your transportation needs. Everyone enjoyed riding on the trolley.
We suggest that you confirm your schedule with your transportation company a couple of days in advance. In our case, I was in charge of communicating to the Town of Lake George Trolley. I failed to give them our final schedule. We had guests waiting for a ride that wasn’t coming. We recommend double-checking your checklist. There are also several limousine companies in our area including All Occasions Limousines and www.premierelimo.com.
Many factors come into play when you seek out your wedding ceremony and reception venue. Here in the Lake George Region you have many, many options. Wedding facilities are available almost any day of the year! Do you want to be married in a church, outdoors or at your reception venue? Would you like a private ceremony?
If you want your wedding ceremony to be in a church, we suggest you start with your priest to find out what time of day he/she is available. Once you have that information, you may plan the rest of your day. If you would like your wedding ceremony to be outside you may choose from a variety of settings including lakeside, nestled in the woods, in a tree house, on top of a mountain or on the deck of one of the cruise ships.
Your number of guests is another key component to consider where you may have your ceremony and reception. Do you want to have a DJ or a live band?
You and your fiancée will know the right venue for you! It will be the one where you feel most comfortable with the setting and also with the venues event coordinator.
We received a call from Brandon on Thursday, June 30th shortly after 8:00AM. He was calling to inquire about Love is on Lake George Cruises. He wanted to arrange for his marriage proposal. We agreed to meet him at 6:00AM on Saturday, July 2nd at Castaway Marina. He and his soon to be fiancé left their home on Long Island around 1:00AM. They drove through the night to arrive at Lake George for their 6:00AM Cruise.
Brandon and his fiancée boarded promptly at 6:00AM. She was totally surprised that he had arranged for a boat cruise. It was a gorgeous early summer morning. They had the lake to themselves. Captain Ron took them up the East side of the lake. Not knowing exactly where Brandon wanted to propose, he drove them through Lovers Lane at the entrance of the Narrows. Then he suggested a good spot for a photo opportunity with the beautiful Adirondack mountains as their backdrop. Shortly after Captain Ron took their picture, Brandon gave him the nod that he was going to propose. Brandon dropped to one knee. She said “yes”. (photo attached)
The newly engaged couple continued on their cruise. Brandon had arranged for members of both of their families along with some of their closest friends to meet them at the Blue Water Manor for breakfast. As the boat approached the dock, the bride started recognizing her family and friends who were awaiting their arrival. These folks had driven through the night from Long Island also. She started waving her left hand and yelling excitedly “I’m engaged! I’m engaged!”
This was their first Lake George experience. We were thrilled to be a part of it.
